Why did they decide to introduce new blockchain education programs at the York University in Canada?
Innovative approach
A Canadian York University is introducing postgraduate courses related to blockchain, a decentralised transaction platform with a distributed network infrastructure. New programs will be part-time Blockchain Development and full-time Back-End & Blockchain Development.
The university is introducing new courses to meet the growing demand for blockchain developer roles in Canada, particularly in the Toronto area, where this level has increased by 374% over the last two years.
Skills upgrade
Both postgraduate courses are scheduled to start in September this year. They aim to improve students’ skills and build a portfolio in the field of blockchain in order to enter the job market in this industry as specialists.
The part-time postgraduate course is to be conducted entirely online in view of the current situation and the one that needs more time will be a combination of online lessons and meetings on school premises on public health guidelines and the current coronavirus situation.
The COVID-19 pandemic verified the system
As one member of the board of the post-graduate program said, blockchain technology is key to building a more transparent and efficient data management system that can mitigate crises like the current one.
The University stresses that crisis situations like a pandemic only increase the demand for blockchain technology and its innovative solutions. Taylor-O’Reilly, vice president of Tracey, said that blockchain is a unique and revolutionary technology that can help solve problems caused by pandemics and other global problems in the future.
