Is my crypto safe? Best Bitcoin wallet apps in 2019

Cryptocurrency wallets are devices or apps that allow you to store, send and receive digital cash. In other words, wallets are the place where the user’s private key is stored and saved. Best Bitcoin wallet apps can be both online applications – browser, mobile, desktop (so-called hot wallets) and physical devices (so-called cold wallets).
In this article, we will discuss the 7 best Bitcoin wallets currently available on the market.

– Google Play – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=im.token.app&hl=en

Description:

imToken is a mobile application, available for free download on the App Store and Google Play. The advantage of imToken is a relatively intuitive usage, thanks to which it is recommended primarily to novice enthusiasts of cryptocurrencies. Creating backups is easy – you can do it with a single click. You can sign offline contracts. ImToken advertises itself as the world’s largest cryptocurrency wallet that allows you to store Ethereum-based tokens (ERC-20), but also supports Bitcoin and EOS. Released in May 2016 by Ben He, in just two years it has reached millions of users around the world – in more than 200 countries.
The imToken flaws include the fact that it is not available as an open-source project. It also does not provide two-step authentication (the so-called 2 FA).

Size: 18 MB
Rating: 6/10
Link:
– Desktop –
https://electrum.org/#home

https://play.google.com/store/apps/detailsid=org.electrum.electrum&hl=en

Description:
Electrum is a wallet available as a desktop application – it means that your bitcoins are stored in a set of files on your computer. Electrum is available for Windows, Linux, Mac OS and Android. Electrum is a so-called lightweight wallet, this means that we do not need to download the chain, but only the client – the chain of blocks is stored on an external server. This is one of the most popular desktop wallets – it was created in 2011; it is free and decentralized.
At the beginning of 2018, a serious error was noted in the wallet, of which the user “tavios” informed about on Github. As he claimed, the vulnerability in the software written in JavaScript could cause leakage of private keys. Fortunately, the error was repaired in a few hours.
The default fee is a flat rate of 0.2 mBTC. At the moment, Electrum accepts only bitcoins.

In addition, the BitPay wallet app allows users to manage the BitPay Visa debit card. The design may not be the most modern, but nevertheless quite user-friendly. BitPay charges 1% for all standard transactions.
