Blockchain beef supply to Japan

Every good DIY guy has used duck tape at least once in his life – and no doubt! It can repair a chair, table, rear bumper to BMW, and even – as some say – patch budget holes. That’s a lot of applications, right? As it turns out, not so many – blockchain has many more!

Follow the cow – trip of a lifetime to Japan

How many people, so many ideas – and how many blockchains, so many uses! The international freight giant UPS, in collaboration with HerdX, has developed a blockchain-based tool. It is designed to help track and monitor shipments. Works like standard tracking in every courier… but not entirely. The blockchain database cannot be edited, overwritten or rollback. Is this the end of the era of couriers who claim that “I haven’t seen your package”?
This is not excluded. At the moment, the tool has baptism behind it. Yesterday (11.11.2019) the first transfer was carried out. Black Angus Beef took off from Arkansas City from Kansas, where it was placed in a specially prepared luggage hold. The flight across the ocean went smoothly – just a few hours later Ruby Jack’s restaurant could serve its customers’ delicious steaks.

…but what does it really change?

The use of blockchain technology is primarily a nod to consumers. Society is becoming more and more aware, especially regarding food and ecology. It’s clear that if you spend $100 on a steak, you want to be sure it’s fresh, right? What if you had the opportunity to check the delivery date from an independent source?
Undoubtedly, the tool developed by UPS is the future of the shipping market. It is very possible that in a few years each package will be able to be monitored by consumers. But what about the chefs’ assurances that “it’s fresh meat”?

Two words about blockchain

Blockchain – it’s a huge database connected to each other. It is a completely open and transparent technology – i.e. for public viewing. At the same time, it is not possible to overwrite, edit or undo a saved blockchain.
